PAI Tag-Editor — Audio Metadata Editor for macOS

Last updated: July 13, 2026

Short version: PAI Tag-Editor edits music metadata and artwork on your Mac. It works locally by default. If you deliberately enable its optional online mode, the artist name and track title may be sent to Apple’s iTunes Search API to look up metadata. The Developer does not operate an App account or backend and does not receive your music files.

1. Scope, Acceptance & Apple Standard EULA

PAI Tag-Editor (the "App") is distributed through the Mac App Store and is licensed, not sold. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA") is the primary licence agreement for the App. These Supplemental Terms describe App-specific functionality, privacy practices, and responsibilities and supplement, rather than replace, the Apple Standard EULA.

By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using the App, you accept the Apple Standard EULA and, to the extent permitted by law, these Supplemental Terms. Mandatory rights granted by applicable law always prevail over any conflicting provision.

2. Developer & Contact Identity

The App is developed and provided by Sorin Nae ("Developer", "we", or "us"). Public seller and trader information applicable to your territory is also displayed by Apple on the App Store product page.

3. App Functionality

PAI Tag-Editor is a macOS music-library organiser and metadata editor. It supports individual and batch metadata editing, text cleanup, artwork management, configurable library views, and related file-organisation operations described on its App Store and product pages. Optional online metadata lookup is controlled by the user.

Supported formats and operations depend on the file, its permissions, the metadata container, available storage, and the macOS version. The current App Store listing is the authoritative source for compatibility and system requirements.

4. Licence & Permitted Use

Subject to the Apple Standard EULA and these Supplemental Terms, the included licence permits personal and professional music-library work. You retain your rights in your music, artwork, and metadata and remain responsible for any third-party rights attached to that material.

Except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise, you may not copy, redistribute, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, bypass protection, extract proprietary assets, or use the App or its components to create a competing product.

5. App Store Distribution, Payments & Refunds

Apple handles App distribution and, where applicable, price, taxes, payment details, purchase entitlements, Family Sharing or other Usage Rules, and refund requests. The Developer does not receive your payment-card details. The current App Store listing states whether a price, in-app purchase, subscription, or trial is offered; these Terms do not create or promise any payment option or trial not shown there. Mandatory refund and consumer rights remain unaffected.

6. App Privacy — Local by Default

The Developer operates no account system or backend server for the App. By default, the App performs metadata and artwork operations locally and does not upload your music files, artwork, library, file paths, edit history, or usage information to the Developer.

The App contains no Developer-operated advertising, behavioural tracking, analytics, or telemetry. Local settings, file access permissions, and the metadata needed to perform your edits remain on your Mac unless you choose to move, synchronise, or share the affected files using another service.

7. Optional Online Metadata Lookup

If you deliberately enable online mode, the App may send the artist name and track title to Apple’s iTunes Search API to request metadata such as release information or genre. Your audio file is not sent. The Developer does not operate that service and does not receive or retain the query.

Apple processes those requests under Apple’s Privacy Policy and the terms applicable to its service. Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or associated with the wrong release. Review all proposed metadata before saving it. Artwork is added by the user rather than automatically downloaded by this lookup.

8. Apple Services & Diagnostics

Apple may process App Store transactions, installations, crash reports, and optional diagnostics under the user’s Apple privacy and diagnostics settings. Apple may provide developers with aggregated analytics or diagnostic reports. The App does not add its own tracking to that Apple-controlled process.

9. Support & Website Information

Sorin Nae is the data controller for personal information voluntarily submitted through support channels or the Software Evolution website contact form.

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, App version, device details, or diagnostic files. We use it only to respond, provide support, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, or establish and defend legal claims. The legal basis is performance of a contract or steps requested by you, our legitimate interest in providing secure support, and legal obligations where applicable.

The website contact form is processed using Formspree, and the website is delivered through Cloudflare. Those providers may process form and technical connection data under their own policies. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, music files, or unnecessary sensitive information through support channels.

Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain support and security records, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes, and is then deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

10. Your Data-Protection Rights

Because your library and audio remain on your Mac, the Developer normally has no server-side copy to access or delete. For personal information voluntarily provided through support, applicable law may give you rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and complaint to a supervisory authority. Requests may be sent to [email protected]. Romanian users may also contact the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing.

11. Direct File Editing, Permissions & Backups

The App may write metadata or artwork directly into supported audio files when you explicitly save changes. File-format limitations, malformed tags, insufficient permissions, storage faults, cloud-sync conflicts, interrupted writes, external editors, or incorrect bulk selections can cause failed, partial, or unintended changes.

Keep independent backups of irreplaceable files before editing, verify a small test selection before a large batch, and review the saved result in another compatible player. The App is not a backup or archival service.

12. Your Content & Required Rights

You retain ownership of files, metadata, and artwork you select. Selecting content authorises the App to process it for the operation you request; it does not transfer ownership to the Developer. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to edit, reproduce, embed, or distribute third-party audio, text, and artwork.

13. Intellectual Property & Trademarks

The App, source code, interface, documentation, and proprietary assets are protected by intellectual-property law and are owned by or licensed to the Developer, except for clearly identified third-party components and rights. Apple and other third-party names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and are used only for identification. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.

14. Warranties & Mandatory Consumer Rights

The Apple Standard EULA contains the warranty terms applicable to the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", and the Developer does not promise error-free operation, perfect metadata results, or compatibility with every file or future system.

Nothing in these Supplemental Terms excludes, restricts, or replaces rights that cannot legally be waived. Consumers retain all mandatory rights and remedies provided by Romanian, European Union, and other applicable law.

15. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or any injury, damage, remedy, or responsibility that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

Subject to that rule and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, inaccurate third-party metadata, or avoidable loss of files or metadata where a reasonable independent backup and review process was not maintained. Nothing here reduces a protection provided by the Apple Standard EULA or mandatory consumer law.

16. Updates, Availability & Termination

Features, supported formats, third-party services, minimum system versions, and interface details may change as the App evolves. Required updates will be provided as required by applicable law. Availability of Apple’s lookup and App Store services is outside the Developer’s control.

Your licence may terminate if you materially breach the Apple Standard EULA or these Supplemental Terms, subject to applicable law. Termination does not transfer ownership of your music, artwork, or metadata to the Developer.

17. Changes, Governing Law & Disputes

We may update these Terms to reflect functionality, legal requirements, security needs, or business changes. Material changes will be communicated by reasonable means and will not retroactively remove a purchased entitlement or mandatory consumer right. Where consent is legally required, a change takes effect only after valid consent.

These Supplemental Terms are governed by Romanian law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections or courts available under the law of their country of habitual residence. Please contact us first so we can attempt to resolve a concern.
