Supplemental Terms of Use & Privacy Policy
MusicEdit — Audio Editor for macOS
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Short version: MusicEdit edits, arranges, analyzes, and exports audio locally on your Mac. Sorin Nae operates no user account or app backend for the App and does not receive your tracks, projects, timeline edits, stems, or exports. Core editing, drum-kit, analysis, and stem-extraction functions work offline. MusicEdit PRO is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks WAV export; it is not a subscription.
1. Scope, Acceptance & Apple Standard EULA
MusicEdit (the "App") is distributed through the Mac App Store and is licensed, not sold. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA") is the primary license agreement for the App. These Supplemental Terms describe App-specific functionality, privacy practices, purchases, and responsibilities and supplement, rather than replace, the Apple Standard EULA.
By downloading, installing, acquiring, purchasing an unlock for, or using the App, you accept the Apple Standard EULA and, to the extent permitted by law, these Supplemental Terms. Mandatory rights granted by applicable law always prevail over any conflicting provision.
2. Developer & Controller Identity
The App is developed and provided by Sorin Nae ("Developer", "we", or "us"). For personal information voluntarily sent through support, Sorin Nae is the controller.

3. App Functionality & Compatibility
MusicEdit is a macOS audio editor with a Main and Workspace timeline, waveform and beat-grid editing, cutting and arranging tools, per-segment volume and fades, BPM and music-structure analysis, built-in genre drum kits, grid alignment, stem extraction into Vocals, Drums, Bass, and Other, project persistence, and export tools. WAV export is identified as a MusicEdit PRO feature.
Actual import, analysis, processing, and export availability depends on the App version, source encoding, and system media capabilities. Current device, operating-system, language, and regional compatibility is shown on the Mac App Store product page.
4. Licence, Built-In Content & Permitted Professional Use
Subject to the Apple Standard EULA and these Supplemental Terms, you may use the App for personal and professional audio-editing work on devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple's Usage Rules.
The App includes drum sounds and patterns that are either created by the Developer or lawfully licensed for use in the App. You may use them as part of original edited or mixed projects created with MusicEdit. You may not extract, resell, sublicense, publish, or redistribute built-in sounds, patterns, interface assets, or other App content in isolated form or as a standalone sample pack.
Except where applicable law or an applicable third-party licence expressly permits otherwise, you may not copy, modify, sublicense, sell, rent, redistribute, reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, bypass protection, remove proprietary notices, or attempt to derive the App's source code or proprietary processing components.
5. MusicEdit PRO, StoreKit & Refunds
MusicEdit PRO is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks WAV export. It is not a subscription and carries no recurring charge from the Developer. Apple controls product availability, territorial distribution, price, taxes, payment processing, account association, entitlement delivery, Restore Purchases, and refunds. The Developer does not receive your payment-card details.
Restoring the unlock requires a compatible Mac, the purchasing Apple Account, and access to Apple's services. Refund requests are processed by Apple, without limiting any mandatory legal rights you may have against Apple or the Developer.
6. Proprietary Stem-Separation Technology
The App provides local stem separation as an editing aid. Its proprietary implementation and associated components are owned by Sorin Nae and, except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise, may not be extracted, copied, redistributed, reverse-engineered, replicated, or used outside MusicEdit without a separate written licence.
Separation quality varies with genre, arrangement, mix complexity, source quality, encoding, and system conditions and does not guarantee studio-grade results or replace manual work by a professional engineer.
7. ONNX Runtime — Legacy MusicEdit 1.x–3.x
This section applies only to MusicEdit versions prior to 4.0, which included Microsoft's ONNX Runtime. The current App no longer includes that component.
ONNX Runtime is open-source software distributed under the MIT License:
MIT License Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

8. App Privacy — No Developer Backend or Tracking
The Developer operates no account system or backend server for MusicEdit. The App does not upload your source audio, projects, timeline edits, drum placements, stems, analysis results, or exports to the Developer.
The App contains no advertising network, third-party analytics SDK, behavioral tracking, or Developer-operated telemetry. Editing, waveform and beat-grid generation, BPM and structure analysis, stem extraction, drum placement, playback, project persistence, and export are performed locally on your Mac.
9. Information Processed & Stored Locally
To provide its functions, the App may locally read or store source audio and metadata, file access permissions, decoded or temporary audio, waveforms, beat grids, BPM and structure results, timeline segments, volume and fade settings, drum placements, generated stems, project state, export selections, preferences, and StoreKit entitlement status received from Apple.
Project persistence is local. The App may retain project and working data so you can resume an editing session, subject to available storage, App settings, and macOS behavior.
10. Apple StoreKit, App Store Analytics & Diagnostics
An internet connection is normally required to load the MusicEdit PRO product, purchase the unlock, restore purchases, or synchronize entitlements. These communications are between the App and Apple services. Apple also may process acquisition, installation, sales, crash, and optional diagnostic information under your Apple privacy and diagnostics settings. These Apple-controlled processes are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. MusicEdit does not add its own analytics or tracking to that process.
11. Support & Website Information
If you contact us by email or through the contact form on the Software Evolution website, we receive the information you voluntarily provide, such as your name, email address, message, App version, device details, or diagnostic material you choose to attach. We use it only to answer your request, provide support, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, or establish and defend legal claims. The applicable legal basis may be performance of a contract or steps requested by you, our legitimate interest in providing secure support, and legal obligations.
The website contact form is processed using Formspree, and the website is delivered through Cloudflare. Those providers may process form and technical connection data under their own policies and applicable data-processing terms. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, copyrighted source audio, full project files, or unnecessary sensitive information through support channels.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain support and security records, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes, and is then deleted or anonymized where appropriate.
12. Your Data-Protection Rights
Because source audio, projects, stems, and exports remain on your Mac, the Developer normally has no server-side copy to access or delete. For personal information voluntarily provided through support, applicable law may give you rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and complaint to a supervisory authority. Requests may be sent to [email protected]. Romanian users may also contact the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing.
13. Your Audio, Projects & Required Rights
You retain ownership of audio files and original project content you select or create. Selecting a file authorizes the App to process it locally for the editing function you request; it does not transfer ownership to the Developer.
You are responsible for having all permissions and licences required to copy, edit, separate, adapt, reproduce, distribute, publish, publicly perform, or otherwise use source audio and exported results. Edited audio and extracted stems remain subject to rights in the source recording and composition. The App and its purchase do not provide third-party music licences.
14. BPM, Structure, Grid & Stem Results
BPM detection, beat grids, structure labels, transient alignment, and stem extraction are computational results. Accuracy and quality vary with musical structure, recording quality, tempo changes, file encoding, and source material. Stems may contain bleed or artifacts, and grids or section labels may require manual correction. Review all results before performance, export, publication, or delivery.
15. Projects, Local Storage & Backups
Keep independent backups of irreplaceable source audio, important projects, and final exports. Removing or moving source files, revoking folder access, deleting App data, uninstalling the App, disk faults, cloud-sync changes, insufficient storage, or interrupted writes may make project content unavailable or incomplete.
16. Import, Editing & Export Compatibility
Import, preview, processing, and export depend on container format, codec, channel layout, sample rate, metadata, copy protection, file integrity, and system capabilities. A supported extension does not guarantee that every encoding variant will be accepted. Re-encoding, time edits, fades, stem processing, and drum placement can change the sound or metadata of exported material. Verify the final file independently.
17. System Conditions & Professional Use
Processing speed and reliability can be affected by project complexity, file duration, available storage, memory, system load, thermal conditions, operating-system behavior, and third-party storage. Test the complete workflow and exported audio before time-critical, live, or professional use.
18. Intellectual Property & Trademarks
The App, source code, interface, original documentation, built-in content, and proprietary processing components are owned by or licensed to the Developer and are protected by intellectual-property law. Third-party and open-source components, including ONNX Runtime in legacy versions, remain subject to their respective owners' rights and licence terms. Apple and all other product or brand names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only for identification.
19. Warranties & Mandatory Consumer Rights
The Apple Standard EULA contains the warranty terms applicable to the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MusicEdit is provided "as is" and "as available", and the Developer does not promise error-free or uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every file, or a particular creative, analytical, separation, or export result.
Nothing in these Supplemental Terms excludes, restricts, or replaces rights that cannot legally be waived. Consumers in Romania and the European Union retain mandatory rights concerning conformity, required updates, repair or bringing into conformity, proportionate price reduction, termination, refund, and other remedies, including rights under Romanian OUG 141/2021 and applicable EU law.
20. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or any injury, damage, remedy, or responsibility that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
Subject to that rule and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost event or publication revenue, reputational loss, failure to obtain content licences, third-party storage or service failure, or avoidable loss of source, project, stem, or export data where a reasonable independent backup was not maintained. This section does not replace the Apple Standard EULA or reduce any mandatory consumer remedy.
21. Updates, Features & Availability
We may provide maintenance, security, compatibility, and feature updates. Required consumer updates will be provided as required by applicable law. Other features, built-in content, supported formats, and compatibility details may change as the App evolves. A purchased MusicEdit PRO entitlement is non-expiring, but this does not promise perpetual App Store availability or compatibility with every future device or macOS release.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, security needs, or operational changes. The revision date will be displayed above, and material changes will be communicated by reasonable means such as the website, App Store release notes, or an in-App notice in a future version. Changes do not retroactively remove a purchased entitlement or mandatory consumer right. Where law requires consent rather than notice, a change will take effect only after valid consent.
23. Suspension & Termination
Your licence may terminate if you materially breach the Apple Standard EULA or these Supplemental Terms, subject to applicable law. Termination does not transfer ownership of your source audio, projects, stems, or exports to the Developer. Provisions concerning intellectual property, user responsibility, privacy, liability, and dispute resolution survive where their nature requires it.
24. Governing Law & Disputes
These Supplemental Terms are governed by Romanian law, without excluding applicable conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections or courts available under the law of your country of habitual residence. Before formal action, please contact us so we can attempt to resolve the issue. Consumers may also contact the competent consumer-protection authority or European Consumer Centre.
